Purpose
These annual awards provide financial support for AddRan faculty members and graduate students who are:
- Designing a new course (or overhauling an existing course) that incorporates new media and/or digital humanities tools
- Designing a research project (or overhauling an existing project) that depends on tools necessary for scholarly work in new media and/or digital humanities
- Developing new initiatives to advance new media and/or the digital humanities at TCU or in the faculty member’s or graduate student’s discipline
Specifically, each proposed project must address the following questions:
- How will the funds be used? How will they contribute directly to the development of the course or scholarly project?
- How might TCU faculty and graduate students benefit from learning about this course or project through a semester workshop?
Eligibility
Open to all full-time AddRan faculty members and graduate students.
Award
Annually, there will be four awards of $300 each to be used for project-related expenses only (not as salary). Possible uses of these funds include, but are not limited to,
- the purchase of books and other instructional materials (including computer hardware or software)
- inviting a speaker to campus
- travel to professional meetings or workshops
Funds will be available from June 1 onward and must be used during the fiscal year (June 1 – May 31).
Requirements
During the year for which the grant is awarded, recipients will be expected to design their proposed project, prepare an implementation plan, and present the project publicly at a semester workshop or roundtable hosted by the Center for Digital Expression.
Reporting
Each recipient will report by developing a semester workshop or roundtable offered through the Center for Digital Expression. The subject or topic of each workshop must be approved by the Director of the Center for Digital Expression and/or the Director of the Insitute for Critical and Creative Expression one semester before the workshop will be offered.
