Assignment Description

Students each choose one period photograph to place in historical context and analyze. Students display their conclusions in essays posted, along with the images, in an omeka.net digital exhibit. To encourage students to engage further with the media and materials, students then complete response papers after examining fellow students’ posts.

Assignment Description

Students produce a written research paper during the first half of the semester. During the second half of the semester students use the research paper as the foundation for producing a video documentary. The video requires New Media writing strategies and incorporates multimedia elements into the project.
